Ensure you have enough time to truly take in the charm of this compact yet captivating capital city. Though small in scale, Reykjavík is packed with attractions and experiences. Start your exploration by heading up to the observation deck of Hallgrímskirkja, an iconic church designed by celebrated Icelandic architect Guðjón Samuelsson. The panoramic views from the top will help you get your bearings. Back at ground level, make your way to Harpa Concert Hall, a stunning architectural landmark situated in the revitalized harbor area and home to the Maritime Museum. For those interested in Iceland’s rich cultural heritage, a visit to the National Museum offers fascinating insights into the country’s history and traditions.

The expansive Scoresbysund fjord, surrounded by towering basalt mountains, offers shelter from Arctic winds and a haven for wildlife. Here, you may encounter muskoxen, Arctic foxes, mountain hares, and a variety of birds, including little auks, puffins, snowy owls, and gyrfalcons. The fjord’s waters are also home to seals and whales, adding to its natural wonders.

Day 5

Ittoqqortoormiit

In southeastern Greenland lies the remote town of Ittoqqortoormiit, home to just 500 residents. Accessible only three months of the year due to thick sea ice blocking the port, this isolated settlement has a rich history. It was established in 1925 by Danish explorer Einar Mikkelsen and about 80 Inuit, spanning a vast hunting area. To this day, hunting and sea fishing remain integral to the community's way of life. The surrounding region is also home to Arctic wildlife, including white foxes, polar bears, and seal colonies.

Day 6 - 7

Kong Oscar Fjord

Kong Oscar Fjord marks the northern edge of Scoresby Sound, a sprawling labyrinth of valleys that leads to the open sea. Towering mountains, deep waters, and glistening ice combine to create a strikingly dramatic landscape that is both stunning and unforgiving. Among its features is the remarkable Berzelius Bjerg, a mountain showcasing vivid bands of colored strata, a testament to its origins millions of years ago when this region lay beneath the ocean.

Nestled among the fjords of Iceland's Westfjords region, Ísafjörður is a vibrant fishing town and cultural hub. It boasts charming cafés, restaurants, and fascinating museums. The Heritage Museum, also called the Maritime Museum, showcases the area's rich fishing history and features some of Iceland’s oldest buildings. Just a short distance away, Osvor offers a glimpse into the past with its replica of a 19th-century Icelandic fishing station.

Day 10

Vigur Island

Vigur Island.jpg

Vigur, a gem of the Westfjords, is the fjord’s second-largest island and a haven for seabirds. Arctic terns, puffins, guillemots, and eider ducks nest along its rocky cliffs. One of only two inhabited islands in the area, Vigur is home to a family farm that continues the centuries-old tradition of harvesting eiderdown from 3,500 nests. The island also features Iceland’s only windmill, its smallest post office, and a 200-year-old rowing boat still seaworthy today.

Day 11

Dynjandi Waterfall

Dynjandi Waterfall.jpg

Dynjandi, one of Iceland’s most stunning waterfalls, is a thundering cascade in the Westfjords region. Its wide, bridal-veil appearance flows gracefully down a series of expanding tiers. A short 15-minute walk to the main fall leads you past five smaller, equally captivating waterfalls along the way.
